MyGreek vs Switch

Switch is a banking app that collects dues into MoneyPools, shared pots members pay into from a link. On MyGreek, you bill each member what they owe, see a live balance for everyone, let parents pay on a member’s behalf, and your 990 gets handled by in-house preparers.

Trusted by 100+ chapters. Comparison last updated October 2026.

MyGreek is the Switch alternative for chapters that want to bill each member instead of collecting into shared pools: a live balance for every member, parent payments credited to the right member, and collections and 990-N filing included on DIY, with optional chapter banking and officer cards.

What is Switch?

Switch is a shared-money app for friend groups, roommates, clubs, and Greek chapters. It combines shared bank accounts, virtual debit cards, and MoneyPools for collecting money from a group. Switch says it is not a bank; its banking services are provided by Thread Bank, Member FDIC.

How Switch works

A MoneyPool is a shared pot for an event, dues, a fundraiser, or a shared expense. You share a link, anyone can contribute on the web or in the app without downloading it, and you see in real time who has and hasn’t paid. Once a pool is funded, admins can spend from it, issue cards, or move money to a spending account. It also includes:

  • Shared accounts that work as real bank accounts, with checks, wires, and admin permissions
  • Virtual Visa debit cards with custom spending limits, physical cards, checks, and ATM access; Pro adds two physical cards a year, free ATM access, free mailed checks, and up to 50% cash back
  • Payment plans, including automated plans, and Apple Pay
  • Text blasts, limited on Standard and unlimited on Pro, and a leadership handoff with Face ID at the end of a term

Switch pricing and fees

Switch’s Standard tier is $0. Pro is $10 a month or $100 a year, free if you keep $5,000 across your Switch accounts. Premium, for clubs and organizations, is $100 a month or $900 a year, free if you keep $50,000 across your Switch accounts, and it’s the tier that includes 990-N and 990-EZ filing and sending members to collections. Payers cover card fees: 3% by credit card, 1% by debit card, and bank transfers are free.

How does Switch make money?

According to its FAQ, from a share of the interest on deposits held at its partner bank, interchange fees when you spend with a Switch card, fees on premium transactions such as instant transfers and wires, card-linked offers, and the optional Pro and Premium subscriptions.

Is Switch worth it?

If your chapter mostly needs shared bank accounts and committee debit cards, and collects for events with a shared link, Switch does that well, and its member fees are low. As of October 2026, Switch’s website and App Store listing don’t describe billing individual members different amounts, a running balance for each member, or notifying parents. Here is how it compares with MyGreek.

Switch collects into pools. MyGreek bills members.

A MoneyPool is a shared pot that people pay into from a link. MyGreek starts from your roster: every member gets their own charges and a live balance.

Bill each member what they owe

Charge any member any amount as soon as they’re on your roster: dues, rent, fines, or a different amount for each person. As of October 2026, Switch’s website and App Store listing describe collecting into shared pools and don’t describe billing individual members different amounts.

A live balance for every member

Switch shows who has and hasn’t paid each pool. MyGreek keeps one running balance per member across every charge, and the roster, charges, and balances carry over from term to term.

Parents pay toward the right member

On MyGreek, parents are notified of a member’s charges and can pay on that member’s behalf, so the payment lands on that member’s balance. Anyone with the link can pay a MoneyPool, but as of October 2026, Switch’s website and App Store listing don’t describe notifying parents or crediting a parent’s payment to a specific member.

Collections included

When reminders run out, send unpaid balances to collections, included on MyGreek’s DIY tier. On Switch, collections are part of Premium: $100 a month or $900 a year, unless you keep $50,000 in Switch.

MoneyPools vs MyGreek’s Member Billing

Switch is strong on shared banking and cards, and its member fees are lower. MyGreek is built around the member ledger: who owes what, who paid, and who can pay for them. Switch details are from its website and App Store listing as of October 2026.

When Switch is the better choice

  • You mostly run events and committee spending from shared accounts and debit cards, and a shared payment link covers your collecting.
  • Lowest member fees matter most: on Switch, bank transfers are free and card payments cost 3% or less.
  • You want ATM access, mailed checks, and retailer cash back on the same account, or to sign up yourself today without a demo.

Switching from Switch to MyGreek

Moving your billing off MoneyPools doesn’t mean moving your bank: you can keep your Switch account for committee cards and spending, and bill members on MyGreek. A good time to switch is at officer turnover, when the new treasurer is setting up anyway.

  • Bring your roster as a spreadsheet and map the columns on import.
  • Get hands-on help bringing open balances over, so every member sees what they still owe.
  • Let open MoneyPools finish on Switch, and send new charges from MyGreek.
  • Keep spending from Switch, or open a chapter account in MyGreek with officer cards.
  • Start with a 20-minute demo. The DIY tier stays free.

MyGreek vs Switch: common questions

Is Switch free for chapters?

The Standard tier is. As of October 2026, Switch’s Standard tier is $0, Pro is $10 a month or $100 a year (free with $5,000 in Switch), and Premium is $100 a month or $900 a year (free with $50,000 in Switch). Payers cover card fees of 3% by credit or 1% by debit, and bank transfers are free. MyGreek’s DIY tier is also $0, and payers cover processing by default.

Can Switch bill individual members and track what each one owes?

Switch collects into MoneyPools: you share a link, members pay into the pool, and you see who has and hasn’t paid it. As of October 2026, its website and App Store listing don’t describe billing members different amounts or a running balance for each member. On MyGreek, every member on your roster has their own charges and a live balance that carries over between terms.

Which one costs members less?

Switch, based on published fees as of October 2026. On a $1,000 payment, a member pays $30 by credit card, $10 by debit card, or nothing by bank on Switch, versus $41.98 by card or $10.10 by bank on MyGreek. Switch’s fees are lower at every payment amount.

Does Switch file our 990?

Switch’s Premium tier includes 990-N and 990-EZ filings, at $100 a month or $900 a year unless you keep $50,000 in Switch. MyGreek’s in-house preparers file 990-N, 990-EZ, and full 990 returns: 990-N filing is included on the $0 DIY tier, 990-EZ filing is free on Plus ($99 a month), and a full 990 is discounted.

Is money in Switch FDIC-insured?

Switch says it is not a bank, and its banking services are provided by Thread Bank, Member FDIC. It advertises up to $3,000,000 in FDIC coverage through a deposit sweep program, and notes that pass-through coverage is subject to conditions. On MyGreek, you can open a chapter account, FDIC-insured through a partner bank, or keep your existing bank.

Can we use Switch and MyGreek together?

Yes, they don’t conflict. MyGreek doesn’t require you to move your bank, so you can keep Switch for committee cards and spending and bill members on MyGreek.

Can we switch from Switch in the middle of a semester?

Yes. Import your roster, enter what each member still owes from your MoneyPool records, let open pools finish on Switch, and send new charges from MyGreek. Start with a 20-minute demo; the DIY tier is free, and MyGreek has no contracts on any plan.
